How to use GoodRx: Finding the cheapest meds for RIGHT NOW

Compartir

Short-term meds are those that you only need for a single course. This includes things like antibiotics or steroid tapers.

In this situation, you will need to use a local pharmacy as you need the medication now.

There are various companies you can use here, but the one I like is:

Good Rx

Because:

they can be used without an app,

the prices are seen readily and compared easily, and

it is free to use.

Here is the step-by-step process for using GoodRx:

Let’s use the example of finding the antibiotic Augmentin (amoxicillin/clavulanate) in chewable tablets for a child.

We are looking for a dose of 200mg/28.5 mg and 20 tablets

1-First, go to Goodrx.com and SEARCH the medication

2- Make sure the medication is the correct dosage and form (liquid, chewable, pill etc)

In this example, we are looking for augmentin in chewable tablets.

So change the form to “chewable tablet.”

  ➡️

3- Scroll ALL the way to the bottom to see all the prices.

Do NOT choose your pharmacy!! (this is a trap)

4-Select the pharmacy with the LOWEST price.

Make sure it does NOT have “one-time offer” on it.

I do not recommend selecting something as a “one-time offer” as these are usually linked to long term subscriptions.  NO one pharmacy is going to be the cheapest deal all the time.  So this is not worth it, in my opinion.

5- Choose the one you want.  It will bring you to this page.  Make sure everything looks good.

6– Choose the method for the coupon to be sent to you (text or email)

7- UNCLICK “Create my free GoodRx account”

This is not needed to get the coupon or use their service.  Again, no ONE pharmacy or service is always going to have the best price for everything.

There you have it!

GoodRx is great for price comparing and for finding the cheapest meds that you need right away from your local pharmacy.
